Two great celebrations of espionage and movie espionage are to now both showcase BOND IN MOTION on its tenth anniversary.
EON Productions’ BOND IN MOTION exhibition is to open in March 2024 at the fascinating and rather brilliant International Spy Museum. In the year the White House might need a bit of 007’s assistance, 17 of Bond’s vehicular co-stars will be on display alongside props, models, artwork and curios.
As 2024 marks ten years of taking his vehicles onto the road and the sixtieth anniversary of Goldfinger (1964) and the film that first introduced the DB5 to audiences, cinema and our man James, Bond’s vehicular co-stars will now swerve dramatically to a hand-brake halt in DC.
First launched in March 2014 in London, Bond in Motion has continued to be a welcome pit stop for Bond, movie and car fans – with visitors from across the globe making the vehicular pilgrimage to the former homes of the exhibition (Beaulieu, London, Brussels, Prague, New York and Los Angeles) and many a run being extended due to demand.
Washington DC holds great Bond provenance. Ian Fleming would visit many times on official, Bond and presidential business. And arguably it was this city that inadvertently helped break 007 into American markets and pop-cultural immortality. The installation is in association with the US-based Ian Fleming Foundation and this marks the second exhibition with the International Spy Museum.
In 2012, EXQUISITELY EVIL – 50 YEARS OF BOND VILLAINS begun a great run in DC and soon represented one of the based 007 skewed exhibitions anywhere in the world. The Spy Museum is also a magnificent, world famous archive and deftly designed space dedicated to espionage, the Cold War, how cinema crossed over more than once into real spying and Commander Bond.
