Shirtmakers Turnbull & Asser (est. 1885) do not just have the royal household’s warrant of shirt-making approval. They are also shirt-makers to the discerning exploits and Jermyn Street tastes of Commander James Bond 007. In 1962, Turnbull & Asser famously dressed a young Sean Connery on the cusp of Bond stardom for 1962’s Dr. No. Director Terence Young was an ardent T&A customer and the stitches of time always suggest it was a trip to Turnbull & Asser where Bond’s onscreen captains finally realized Connery was the right pick for the job.
Since then Turnbull & Asser subsequently worked on the sartorial looks of From Russia With Love (1963), fitted out Pierce Brosnan with tie-wear for Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day (2002). They then returned to the 007 fold by dressing Daniel Craig’s debut Bond in 2006’s Casino Royale (including designing a shirt costume designer Lindy Hemming could get wet for the shower scene).

To mark their nearly sixty-year cotton-lined marriage with Bond, Turnbull & Asser have crafted their own 007 collection. Composed of eleven pieces, each garment and sartorial accessory honours and remembers the original creators and cutters, as well as the founding designs, imagery and notes of the pieces. Building upon some Bond pieces that were already flanking the vintage timbered Turnbull & Asser shelves and rails, this new James Bond Collection also takes in some newer pieces for the flagship London store.
